Privacy Policy

The short version: your files never leave your device. We don't see them, store them, or touch them. This page explains everything else.

What FileIntel does โ€” and doesn't do
Your files are processed locally. Every tool on FileIntel runs in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded to our servers because we don't have servers that receive files.
We don't store your documents. When you close or refresh the tab, the file is gone. We have no copy. Nobody does.
We don't sell data. We have no user accounts, no profiles, nothing to sell.
No sign-up required. No email, no name, no account. You open the tool and use it.

What we collect

Almost nothing. Here's the complete list.

Analytics (anonymous). We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools and pages are used most. This tells us things like "the PDF Metadata Remover had 400 visits today." It does not tell us who you are, what files you processed, or where you came from specifically. No cookies are set for this. No cross-site tracking.

Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) logs basic request data โ€” IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamp. These logs are used for security and performance monitoring. They're not linked to any user profile. Cloudflare's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.

That's it. We don't run advertising trackers. We don't use Google Analytics. We don't embed third-party widgets that phone home.

Your files

Every tool on FileIntel โ€” PDF Metadata Remover, PDF Redactor, CSV Deduplicator, PDF Merger, PDF Splitter โ€” runs entirely client-side. When you drop a file into the tool, the browser reads it into memory using the File API. The processing happens in your browser using JavaScript libraries loaded from public CDNs. The output file is generated locally and downloaded directly to your device.

At no point does your file travel across the internet to us. We have no infrastructure to receive it. If you're skeptical, open DevTools โ†’ Network tab while using any tool. You'll see no outbound requests carrying your file data.

✓ Verifiable

Our source code is on GitHub. You can inspect every tool to confirm it does exactly what we say. If you find something that contradicts this policy, please tell us.

CDN libraries

Our tools load JavaScript libraries from Cloudflare's CDN โ€” specifically PDF.js, pdf-lib, and JSZip. When your browser requests these files, Cloudflare's servers see your IP address as part of a standard HTTPS request. This is identical to any website that loads a font or script from a third party. The libraries themselves run locally once loaded โ€” they don't transmit your data anywhere.

Cookies

We don't set cookies for tracking or advertising. Cloudflare may set a minimal session cookie for security purposes (bot detection). This doesn't identify you personally and expires when you close your browser.

Third parties

FileIntel uses the following third-party services:

  • Cloudflare Pages โ€” hosting and CDN. Processes request metadata as described above.
  • Google Fonts โ€” serves Instrument Serif and DM Mono. Your browser requests these fonts from Google's servers. If this concerns you, you can self-host the fonts locally.
  • Cloudflare CDN โ€” serves PDF.js, pdf-lib, and JSZip libraries.

We don't use advertising networks, affiliate trackers, social media pixels, or any other third-party data collection.

GDPR and UK GDPR

FileIntel is designed with data minimisation as a core principle, not a compliance checkbox. We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the site. For EU and UK visitors:

  • The lawful basis for processing server logs is legitimate interest (security and performance monitoring).
  • Anonymous analytics data doesn't constitute personal data processing under GDPR Article 4(1) โ€” there's no identified or identifiable natural person.
  • Your files are never processed by us. We're not a data processor in relation to your documents โ€” we never receive them.

For questions about your data rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, contact us at the address below. Given the minimal data we hold, most requests will be resolved by confirming we hold nothing identifiable about you.

Note

If you're using FileIntel to process documents containing other people's personal data โ€” which is common for lawyers, HR teams, and compliance professionals โ€” your organisation's own GDPR obligations apply to how you handle those documents. Our GDPR and PDF metadata guide covers this in detail.

Children

FileIntel is intended for professional use. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has used the site and you have concerns, contact us.
